Petrolheads go green

Watching ads on TV for cars lately I've noticed a couple of brands moving away from their usual messages and trying fairly explicitly to boost their green credentials. First up in the tree-hugger sweep is (unsurprisingly given the Swedish connection) Saab with their eco-power fuel.

Now as a Saab owner, I guess I should be happy to be associated with this planet friendly direction. However, after spending who knows how much on their campaign, Saab now have to square this with some research findings stating that the production of bio-fuel increases de-forestation. Oh well.

Second up is Citroen. Obviously unwiling or unable to compete with the "createur d'automobiles" strap from Renault, they've commissioned a full on earthly paradise campaign featuring dolphins - yes how original - driving a frankly unrecognisable C3's under the ocean. Their new line is Citroen " a low CO2 manufacturer"

Whatever next?
